He does an excellent job at capturing the whimsical charm, optimism and playfulness of Willy Wonka. Calah Lane as Noodle, the orphan girl that befriends Wonka, gives the film a lot of heart. The villains are enjoyable in their over-the-top villainy, while Hugh Grant gives the funny Oompa-Loompa a sense of fanciness. The always great Rowan Atkinson has an enjoyable side role.
The film's visuals are a treat to look at. It's a stylish film that looks colorful and appealing. The film is filled with plenty of new songs that are good in their own right.
