He dusted the dirt off him as he stood.
“Well this certainly isn't New York,” she muttered.
“Welcome to Oz, Dorothy.”
She sighed as they took in the sight before them. The houses were rundown brick buildings about two stories high. Some were small huts of mud and hay. The kalye was dirt that turned to stone the farther up you went. Buildings of different styles crowded in to what could be the center of a town filled with all kinds of different creatures.
“Well Toto, shall we find the witch or look for the flying monkeys?”
He grinned at her and the two stepped into the gate surrounding it.
“Well if that wasn't strange enough...”
“Yeah. I guess they like seeing how you really are.”
They looked down at their own clothes to find them replaced with costumes to match the blood flowing inside them. Terror was dressed in black pants, an old fashioned black balabal tattering at the end. Bandages covered the skin on his chest and neck while a white sinturon held the black sword at his hip. Half a mask hid the left part of his face in a menacing white smile. The only color in the black sockets was his golden pupils.
“Well don't you look scary,” Becca commented.
“And this is why I use fear.”
She smirked and he looked at her.
“I didn't know you had pointed ears...”
She groaned and made a face at the black dress she wore. An even darker vest covered the bodice and the sleeves stopped at the elbows in golden braid. Dark Victorian-style cuffs ruffled around her arm. The palda was layered and fashioned a dark gray sinturon with black leaves and a golden ball. Her hair was pulled out of her eyes sa pamamagitan ng a ginto headband and tied up with ginto ribbon. She had four ginto bracelets on her left wrist, a wizard's staff in that hand. Her ears were indeed pointed.
“It's a witch trait unfortunately. And I feel ridiculous.”
“Yeah. But we really don't want to be noticed.”
“Thank god I'm not wearing one of those stereotypical hats!”
He snickered before moving on and she was quick to follow. They kept their eyes open as they walked, feeling the glances and even some hands of the people milling around. It wasn't silent, but their presence was definitely nothing short of a surprise.
“If feel like we're in danger,” she whispered close to his ear.
“Yeah. Just keep your voice down and let's get out of here.”
She nodded very slightly as they moved on, hearing whispers and seeing pointed fingers. She could feel the beating of her puso in her chest. He suddenly grabbed her elbow and escorted her to a covered alley. She looked at him with surprise.
“What's wrong?”
“Watch your thoughts...” he muttered in a growl.
“Huh?”
“You're freaking out. That's not a good idea, Becca.”
She blinked and saw the sweat on his brow. His breathing was rough.
“Sorry. I didn't...”
“Look, we'll talk later. Right now, we need to go. Before we either cause madami commotion or they decide we are unstable.”
“Right. Let's go.”
He nodded and they walked out again, this time both in control of their emotions and thoughts.
