Alright this is madami of a rant than anything because "Enchanted" is one of my paborito pelikula and I cannot believe she isn't in the line up or is thought of as a Disney Princess. And I know the movie is making fun of the stereotypical princess when she meets the real world but there are so many allusions to the movie, especially The Little Mermaid in a lot of them. BUT ANYWHO let's get started.
The usual reason Disney deems a character a Disney Princess is usually because they are the heroine of the movie and have a few musical numbers where sinabi heroine sings in. They also are very beautiful and set up as an icon where young girls can see them as role mga model and then the corporate part of Disney can market it. They make dresses for little girls, backpacks/lunchboxes with their faces on them, and toys they'll pag-ibig for a little less than a buwan and then buy a new product. You guys get it.
Where Giselle comes in is she fits nearly all of these categories and more! The only thing she doesn't fit is being an princess. And I don't want to say it (ok I really do) BUT HELLO NEITHER IS MULAN. I'm just sayin'. And Merida breaks nearly ALL rules as to being a "Disney" princess (No pag-ibig interest, no musical numbers, being a product of PIXAR). I see no reason why Giselle shouldn't be in the lineup. And besides Disney DID market her stuff at one point. They had Giselle dresses and "Enchanted" jammies with "How Does She Know" blasting in the back. She was even in the lineup on the Disney Princess website for some time.... So... what happened?
