What are computers for?

An old man asked me what he would need a computer for. I was about to tell him you can use it to stay in touch with your family, pay bills, watch movies, and so on, but that's when I realized, a phone is far better for those purposes. This old man already had a phone, he was asking why he needed a computer, and I really didn't have an answer for him. I only ever use mine for gaming pretty much

What do you think, have computers been reduced to overpriced video game consoles, or is there something more?

Often times its better for typing up shit, projects using stuff like power points and spreadsheets, browsing the internet, and videogames. Of the tuktok of my head, the only thing that differentiates it from a really good phone outside of videogames is that it is sometimes a bit easier to browse and that it is much madami convenient for projects (at least in personal experience).

I'm not really sure the typing thing would be true if phone keyboards were madami common. Formatting a document would be harder though

Watching bidyo is also better (imo) on desktop.

You can also play DVD's and audio CD's in computers.

I didn't even really bother to get Word when I got my new computer. Still, even things like google docs, libre office, will always be easier to use on PC

Tbh lately I've been using google docs. But I still like word madami I think.

Yeah, free is why I'm using Google docs now. That and I brought a valid copy of word and installed it. My computer crashed and I can't seem to get it back. I hate these one time use codes and wish that they would go back to discs so you can buy it once and not have to worry.

But other than that yea, you can look at computer as a gaming system for most people. The old man probably doesn`t need a computer if he already has a phone and knows how to make the best use of it.
