I agree, its the weird that makes it scary I think..well its the sounds, it was the freaky sounds and noises that always creeped me out!

I only know of Death Note and Elfen Lied. Then again, Death Note is madami of a suspense, action thriller...rather than horror. It didn't really scare me at all, but it depends on the person.

Elfen Lied hasn't scared me yet, but there's A LOT of gore and it's quite suspenseful..

Vampire Knight!It's my favourite anime and it has 2 season,the 3rd doesn't come yet.Actually it's not as scary as High school of the dead or Elfen Lied,but this anime is a story about Bampira so when a vampire drinks someone's blood,it acts really scary and the music plays in these parts are really scary too.Also,you will pag-ibig the 3 main characters of the anime because they are very cool
