“No!” Elena screamed. She dropped the gun and ran over to where Artemis had collapsed. She felt the chip deactivate. She ripped it out of her forehead and threw it across the room.
Elena picked up Artemis’s head and set it in her lap. Tears poured down her checks. A door on the opposite side of the room whooshed open. Opal floated in with an enormous smile on her face. Elena carefully set Artemis’s head down and stood up.
“You are a monster!’ she yelled, pointing at Koboi. She slowly advanced towards Opal.
“I wouldn’t try anything,” Opal sinabi in a singsong voice. “Remember I have magic and you’re just a puny human.” It was Elena’s turn to smile.
“You’re right,” Elena said. “You do have magic.” She pulled a needle with a glowing blue liquid from behind her back.
“Where did you get that?” Opal asked, her eyes widening.
“I estola it off the kariton when you weren’t looking. I thought it might come in handy.” Elena inserted the needle into her skin. She could feel the liquid flow into her body. She dropped the needle as sparks started to shoot out of her fingers. Elena closed her eyes and let the magic coarse through her body. She opened her eyes again and glared at Koboi.
“There. Now were even,” Elena sinabi as she walked towards Opal again. “No, wait. I’m bigger than you.”
Holly’s eyes widened when she saw Elena inject herself with magic. She saw her walk towards Koboi again. holly turned her back on the situation, not wanting to see anyone else hurt today. Bangs and crashes emanated from behind her. They eventually stopped and holly turned around to see Koboi shivering in a corner with her arms and legs hogtied behind her back.
Elena ran back over to Artemis. She ripped open his sando to see how bad the wound was. She gasped in surprise. Instead of seeing a bleeding hole, as she expected, she found a bulletproof vest. Elena ran her fingers over the dent the bullet had left.
“Artemis?” she asked. Artemis’s eyes fluttered open. He sat up slowly and glanced around the room. His gaze stopped on Opal in the corner. He raised his eyebrows at Elena.
She giggled. “I got a little carried away. I’m just glad you’re alright.” She threw her arms around his neck.
“I found your note,” he whispered in her ear. Elena held her breath. “I pag-ibig you too.” Elena’s puso skipped a beat. They stood up and walked out of the laboratory hand in hand with holly and malts following them.

All of the Fowls were gathered around the dining table. It was Artemis’s birthday. Mrs. Fowl brought out a cake. Mr. Fowl turned off the lights while Elena lit the candles.
“Elena, dear,” Mrs. Fowl said. “It’s your turn to sing the song this year.”
Elena smiled. “Oh I know. I have a very special song prepared.”
She took a deep breath and started. “Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday dear, Daddy. Happy Birthday to you.” Everyone looked at Elena.

“Is it a boy or a girl?” Artemis asked. Elena nodded again. “Twins!” He exclaimed.

“No, heal!” she pushed harder forcing madami magic out of her body. “Heal!” she screamed. All of her magic raced into Artemis’s body. Elena collapsed on the floor, breathing heavily. She placed her hand on Artemis’s chest trying to find a heartbeat.
“No!” she wailed, when she couldn’t find one. She felt holly balutin her arms around her. Elena cried into Holly’s chest.
When she finally stopped crying, Elena picked up Artemis’s body carefully. She carried him out of the laboratory and all the way to Fowl Manor refusing help from anyone. She walked through the door. Mr. and Mrs. Fowl were sitting in the living room.
“Oh my gosh!” Mrs. Fowl exclaimed running over to Elena.
“He got shot trying to protect me,” Elena said, tears started to run down her face again. “I couldn’t save him.”
After the funeral, Elena locked herself in her room for a week. When she finally did come out, she didn’t talk to anyone.
