MrsPendragon I was kind of disappointed that Arthur was so mean to Merlin when he made him hold the shield and be attacked by the Knights...that is something the OLD Arthur would do, circa season 1. The new and improved Arthur was more respectful to Merlin and certainly teased him and gave him a hard time, but didn't feel the need to punish Merlin for his own enjoyment. I think that this is reflective of Arthur's separation from Gwen...

kbrand5333 Yes, he did do that. But he was kind of taking his anguish out on his other bestie (Merlin) in his pain over his first bestie's (Gwennie's) absence. 'Cause that's what humans do. We abuse the ones closest to us because we know we will be forgiven. Doesn't make it right always, but there it is.
