I loved her in Miranda's ark, but after that she started getting kidnapped, emo-ing for no reason, lost all her personality and in that one episode, she became a lumberjack for that little girl and it was creepy. That is why I prefer the manga, that little girl did not exist. Okay, I need to stop hating. Lenalee is cute, but that is all she is, I am now leavin'.

Lenalee was great on the Pirate ship, and great when the Akuma invaded HQ. She was BADASS, all characters have a couple of bad shows.

Son/wimmin, I am disappoint.
That was a fail answer. And I am disappoint. I find her useless because she is a Mary-Sue, though it pains me to say so. And she will have the heart innocence, and everyone in the show will fall madly in love with her, and she'll emo more about her life and it will never add anything to the plot. She'd be more meaningful if she was dead, then you could at least pity her and see the beauty of her relationship with Allen, which is teetering on the edge of existence since her screen time has been eaten by Kanda, who has finally got back from the bus he was on. Speaking of Kanda, Symie likes Kanda x Allen way better. YAY FOR HOMOSEX... what? I'm not going to lie to you... Even though, my love for Yullen isn't what makes me dislike Lenalee.

I think we're all entitled to our own opinions about her and neither of us can say the other is wrong about her. But, this does not apply for Yullen because Yullen is king(s?) of the universe. I mean, if you go to the D.Gray-man archive on Fanfiction.net , Lenalee and Allen have 17 pages, Lavi and Allen have 26 pages, Tyki and Allen is almost non-existent, Lavi and Tyki, for whatever reason, have 5 pages, and Kanda and Allen have 58 pages. 58 PAGES! It's the only couple anybody writes for, and that's ridiculously stupid, but I love it. It's funny because Allen and Kanda is so never-gonna-happen. Urgh, now I'm just ranting. I'm done now.

She is not useless by a lonshot

She defeated the first Level 3 alone, your calling her useless but her innocence went beserk thats why she cant fight. She was basically paralyzed for a while...if thats the case Allen was useless when he lost his innocence as well.

She cries because she see's all of them as her family and cares for everyone alot. She keeps everyone together and has established a place that everyone can call home. To call her useless is completley wrong IMO.

Allen cries alot as well and he's a guys. She has saved Allen many times before as well. When she does get her innocence back she helps Allen defeat the level 4 something he couldnt do alone. She is one of the most powerful exorcist and has the only Crystal-type potentialy the heart.

I can understand if you dont like her, or if she gets on your nerves, but calling her useless is a COMPLETLY WRONG ASSUMPTION!

Yes, I agree with you, The3rdL. But, it's tiresome to watch ladies cry, in my opinion. When Allen cries or gets hurt, it's adorable because he's a guy with an uke face. That probably lands him as a seriously unoriginal and useless main character but, for the sake of yullen and because his character is cute, I like Allen. Though, he's not in my list of favorite characters. And she's not useless, you're right, I just find her character uninteresting. That was more of what I was trying to say but, I failed at saying it.

@sweetsymphony Now I can agree with that it does get old when either of them tear up, and as you find Allen cute I find Lenalee adorable and I would be one of the guys trying to rescue her.

I say no. Yes she did have her useless arc, but if you look closely at it so did Allen. I admit she is useless at times, but not overall.

absolutely not

She was useless in episodes 65 - 102 (yeah around those numbers) but otherwise she is quite strong. And Allen was useless episodes 56 - 70 so yeah >.> And IMO Allen is more of a crybaby :P no offense intended, Allen is my second fav. char and Lenalee is third.
Both are really strong exorcists and I love Yullen and like Allenalee for the note.

Lenalee's past sure is scary so I understand why she became a crybaby , I dislike her being over dependent to her comrades especially Allen ... but we can't judge her so early we don't know what will happen next ... but for me she became more awesome than the previous chapters of the manga... :( :)

I'm only like 30 episodes into it and I can already tell she's a Mary-Sue. Hell, I like Sakura more than her, she can at least attempt to punch someone in the face. All Lanalee dose is run and jump.

Yes, she is a bit bland. Yes, she can get Sue-ish on occasion. No, Hoshino isn't completely perfect so don't expect every single character to be entirely balanced and liked/disliked as much as she tries to make them.

Some of her usefulness comes in at her more Sue-ish moments part of the time, but it's easy to tell that those parts are accidental and Hoshino really is trying. She puts in effort to make her main characters likable, and she does a better job at it than a few others I've seen over the years. I appreciate that, and I appreciate that she successfully made a character likable (in my opinion anyway) despite the fact that said character wasn't always the easiest to like at certain times.

Another point that I must make—people often call her a crybaby. Um, no. How about I tell a really quick imagine-a-scenario kind of game? I was in love with those when I was little.

Your eyes go wide. No, no, no, no! You stare in dazed horror for a few moments, your entire body paralyzed. You open your mouth to scream, but nothing can escape from your suddenly-parched throat. Once you can force your body to move again, you run over to your best friend. He had just been brutally beaten, violently tossed aside into a wall, and now is lying on the ground, bleeding and just barely conscious. Your knees give out and you collapse, sobbing while trying to choke back the vomit attempting to work its way up due to the terror you feel. Things like this aren't too out of the ordinary for you, but to see your comrade tossed about like a rag-doll and choke up blood while willing himself to continue fighting isn't something you can just get used to. These situations serve as a reminder that you aren't immortal and neither are your comrades. You could die at any time, you or the ones you love, at any time. You can't ever get used to that.

Yes, yes! A day in the life of Young Miss Lenalee Lee! Now, if she's a crybaby because of what she cries over, you're something even more than a crybaby if you ever do so much as shed a single tear for as long as you live. Being in that situation is bad enough, but being a teenager in that situation would be far worse. Just that fact that she's able to hold onto her sanity and is still able to fight in battle after all she's been through is enough to prove her to be a useful character.
