If you look at Lily and James you notice they are very similar to Harry and Ginny.

Looks

Ginny has red hair and brown eyes. Harry has dark hair and green eyes. Switch them around... you get James and Lily! Lily has RED hair and GREEN eyes. James has DARK hair and BROWN eyes.

"I never really gave up on you"

Ginny had a crush on Harry. And James had a crush on Lily (mentioned sa pamamagitan ng Snape, he did ask her out).

Both Lily and Harry showed no interest, but at some stage they fell for them.

Apart from that there is nothing that shows they're very similar.

Flickerflame Why James and Lily are different to Harry and Ginny: 1. Lily has famous green eyes while Ginny's eyes are brown. Their hair, although both red, are described as different shades of red. 2. Ginny had a crush on Harry almost from the first time she met him. Lily disliked James initially. 3. Lily and James had only one child and both died aged 21. Harry and Ginny live to have 3 children and are still alive aged 35 and 36. 4. Lily and James were the same age, apart from a few months. Harry and Ginny are a year and a bit apart. 5. Lily and James were in their seventh year when they started dating. Harry was in his sixth year and Ginny in her fifth when they started dating. 6. Harry knew Ginny because she was his best friend's sister. There's no such other connection between James and Lily.

Silverrose1991 ^ One thing that severely annoys me is when people claim that Ginny looks identical to Lily and that's the reason why Harry fell in love with her. Although I am not necessarily a Ginny/Harry support, I call BS on that. Just because they both have red hair, it doesn't mean they look identical. That's the only feature, as far as we know, that they have in common.

Flickerflame ^Good point on another difference between the couples - while James was a pureblood and Lily Muggle-born, Harry is classed as a half-blood and Ginny a pureblood.
