Chapter 10: Sex, Lies and Misfortune

Lois got up from the sopa and walked over to the door. When she opened it she saw Ollie leaning against the door frame.

“Hey Lois I was just thinking about you and me, me and you, us, so I thought I’d stop by.” He slurred.

“Are you drunk?” she asked as she caught of whiff of his breath.

“Me? No!” he denied it.

“Is that why you smell like you were swimming in scotch?”

“Maybe just a little tipsy, but common Lois, lets have a little harmless fun!” he raised an eyebrow.

“Ollie what has gotten in to you?” she asked shocked,
completely taken aback sa pamamagitan ng his sudden abrasiveness.

“I just miss you; I know you miss me too.”He moved in closer to her.

“No I don’t. I have a boyfriend you might know him he’s a good friend of yours.” She retorted, taking a step back.

“Who Clark? I could please you in ways you couldn’t even dream of with Clark.” He took another step closer once again filling the puwang between them.

“I think you should go home, get some rest and when you’re all sobered up you can apologize for being such a jackass.” She growled and folded her arms across her chest.

“Sober up? I told you I'm barely tipsy!”

“No, you’re drunk Ollie. And you’re saying and doing things you don’t mean.”

“Of course I mean them! You don’t think I miss our wild nights together?”

“That was in the past, it’s over now. What happened to us moving on and being friends?”

“You know people don’t actually ilipat on. They just tell themselves they do. Now lets ilipat on into the bedroom for some fun.” He grabbed her arm and pulled her towards her room.

“That’s enough!” she yelled and jerked her arm away from him.

“Common!” he wrapped his arms around her waist.

“Don’t touch me.” She glared at him as she pulled back.

“You know you want it, you don’t have to fight it anymore. I see it in the way you look at me, I can see it in your eyes.” He walked up close, their lips almost touching.

“Oliver, leave me alone.” She turned her head away.

“Oh Lois.” He pulled her chin to face him. “You can’t possibly think that boyfriend of yours is Mr. Perfect!” he laughed. “Deep down you know he still loves Lana.”

“How dare you!” she slapped him. “That’s it! Get out!” she screamed! And then in the blink of an eye she was knocked out cold.

She woke up the susunod morning alone, naked in her bed. She felt her stomach drop at the sudden realization of what had happened. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she pulled herself out of kama to put some clothes on. “How could Ollie do this to me? It’s not like him; he's been so…different lately. I can’t believe he did this.” She felt so afraid, ashamed, embarrassed and used. She couldn’t bring herself to tell anyone, not even Clark.

---------------------

“What are you doing here?” she asked nervously.

“Lois I had to see you.” Oliver told her.

“What do you want?” she asked quietly as she stepped out onto the porch closing the door behind her. She didn’t want Clark or Martha to hear any of this.

“Can we talk?” he asked apologetically.

“Oh you wanna talk now? Talk about what exactly, the fact that you came in to my apartment, completely smashed might I add, and was pagganap like a total jackass, or the part about you raping me!?” she sinabi furiously.

“I feel horrible.” He sinabi as he tried to catch her gaze but she wouldn’t look at him.

“Imagine how I feel.” She finally held his gaze long enough for him to see the tears starting to build in her eyes. “You don’t just get over something like that. That feeling, waking up alone and realizing what just happened, it stays with you. And the fact that the single mention of your name makes my stomach tighten and want to throw up. The constant fear that with every knock on the door I will open it and find you waiting, ready to do it again. And seeing you now, here, I can’t do this.” She turned away from him, burying her face in her palms.

“I’m sorry.” He whispered.

“That won’t take back anything.” She sinabi as she stared at the floor.

“I know, and if I could go back you have to know I would change everything. I’d take back what I did in a heartbeat.” He went to put a consoling hand on her arm but quickly refrained himself, he knew it would only make things worse.

“But you can’t. It’s done.” She answered coldly.

“What can I do to ipakita you how sorry I am?”

“Why’d you do it?” she looked up at him, he could see the pain in her eyes and it broke his puso to know he made her feel that way. “Of all the people in the world I would never have pegged you as someone who could do that to anyone, especially me. After all we’ve been through; I really thought you cared about me…guess I was wrong.” She sighed and bit her lip, trying desperately to hold back the tears.

“Lois, you're not wrong. I would never want to hurt you, you know me. I was drunk and depressed; I wasn’t myself you have to believe me.” He pleaded.

“I can’t.” she shook her head.

“Please, I just want things to go back to how they were. I miss you.” His lips quivered as the last words left them.

“I’m sorry; it’s going to take some time before I can see you again.” She whispered.

“Do you think things can ever go back to before?” he questioned hoping for the life of him that she would say yes, he’d give anything to have her say so.

“No. I don’t think so.” She looked away; she couldn’t face him, not yet. “I think it would be best if you just left.” She nodded and was about to turn away from the silence between them but was pulled back sa pamamagitan ng his abrupt words.

“I pag-ibig you.” He smiled and took a step closer, filling the puwang that was keeping them apart.

“No Oliver don’t.” she shook her head and put her hand up taking a step back.

“I’ve loved you ever since the first time I saw you and you slammed the door in my face.” He laughed at the memory. “And I haven’t been able to get you out of my mind since then. So you could only imagine the guilt I feel. And I know I'm the last person you want to be talking to right now and I understand that but I had to apologize and let you know how I feel.”

“I should get back to Clark and Mrs. K before they start worrying about me.” She turned away grabbing hold of the door handle and began opening the door.

“Have you told them?” he asked. She looked back, still holding the handle.

“No.” she sinabi closing her eyes and shaking her head. “Goodbye Oliver.” She turned back and closed the door behind her, leaving him alone on the front porch his head bowed down not getting the chance to respond.

“Goodbye Lois.” He watched her walk back to Clark and Martha through the glass window of the door. He felt his puso sink to his stomach as he realized that they were her family now and he ruined any chance of ever having one with her. With that, he turned away not being able to handle the sight any longer and started walking back to his car.

------------------

As Lois was walking back into the kusina memories of that night flashed before her. She tried to pull herself together, not letting her emotions get the best of her; she didn’t want Clark to see her like this. It was their night to celebrate, it was meant to be one of the happiest nights of their lives and not be ruined sa pamamagitan ng Oliver’s mistakes.

“Lois what took you so long? Who was it?” Clark asked curiously when she reached the kitchen.

“It was just uh, some guy asking for directions so I helped him out.” She lied. Clark could tell something wasn’t right but he decided not to press it now, but wait for later when they’d be alone. He just gave her a warm hug hoping that it would help ease the pain of whatever was hurting her.

They all took a upuan at the table, Martha at the head and Clark and Lois sat across from each other beside her. Lois gave Clark a questioning glance and he gave her a reassuring nod. Clark knew exactly what Lois was trying to say so he turned to his mom.

“Lois and I have something we need to tell you.” He sinabi cautiously unsure of how they would tell her. He hoped she would understand for Lois’ sake, she’d been so nervous about telling her.

“What is it? Is something wrong?” she looked worriedly at the two of them.

“No Mrs. K, we’re fine, it’s just…” she froze mid-sentence; she was so afraid this would end horribly; she always wanted to make a good impression on Martha and never wanted her to think badly of her. Millions of different thoughts raced through her mind, and Clark could see the anxiousness building inside her. He reached across the mesa and held her hand.

“Do you want me to tell her Lois?” he asked kindly.

“No, no Clark it’s okay.” She insisted, she had to be strong, after all how bad could it be? Martha noticed Lois’ uneasy shifting in her upuan and tried to reassure her.

“Lois what is it? You know you can tell me anything.” She smiled so curious about what could possibly be making Lois so nervous.

“I’m pregnant.” Lois sinabi slowly. She closed her eyes she didn’t want to see the look on Martha’s face when she realized her grandchild would be raised sa pamamagitan ng Lois Lane. She felt a warm hand touch hers and she slowly opened her eyes to find Martha looking back at her, tears filling her eyes. Lois was unsure of what her reaction meant and immediately assumed the worst. “Please don’t be upset I know we’re young and you probably would want someone madami suitable to raise your grandchild. I know we should’ve been ligtas but sometimes you just don’t realize, I mean we all make mistakes. And if you don’t want us moving in here anymore I totally understand, I just hope this doesn’t change the way you see me. You have been the only real mother I’ve ever had and I would hate for it to be ruined because of one wild night and –“she sinabi frantically before Martha cut her off.

“Lois, Lois, calm down.” She smiled. “I'm not upset, and if there was anyone I’d want to raise my grandchild it would be you and I know if Jonathan were here he’d say the same thing.” She held both their hands. “I'm really happy for the two of you; I know you’ll make great parents.”

Lois sighed in relief as a big smile came across her face. “You really think so?”

“Of course, I don’t doubt it for a second.” She placed a loving hand on her cheek.

“Thank you, really, for understanding.”

“You're welcome. Now, I have a confession to make.” She giggled. “Your father and I used to bet on how long it would take for the two of you to stop denying that fact you pag-ibig each other and finally be together.”

“Are you serious!? There’s no way, we didn’t even want to see each other! She drove me crazy!” Clark sinabi completely shocked at the revelation.

“Okay Smallville don’t deny it, you know you loved it.” She smirked.

“All that teasing, fighting and pretending you hated each other was all part of the fun wasn’t it?” Martha teased.

“I guess I never wanted to admit it…but you might be right, I mean I did enjoy it, a little.” Clark admitted shrugging his shoulders as his cheeks flushed.

“We know.” Martha and Lois sinabi in unison as they laughed.

Soon Clark joined in and they were all laughing. The rest of the hapunan was spent remembering the funny times they’ve shared. The laughter grew louder as the night wore on and before they new it, hours went sa pamamagitan ng and their plates emptied.

“Now Clark honey would you mind cleaning up while you let us mothers have a little chat.” She asked excitedly.

“Of course not.” He smiled and began gathering everyone’s plates. This whole cleanup could’ve been done in a flash with the help of his super speed but took his time allowing them to talk.

“Thanks sweetie.” Lois gave Clark a quick peck on the lips before following Martha into the other room.

Clark wanted so much to turn on his super hearing and listen in on their conversation but he managed to refrain himself from doing such. He knew Lois needed some time alone with his mom to sort through all those motherly things with her and she deserved her privacy.

----------------------

Martha saw the worried look on Lois’ eyes as they sat down on the couch. Lois began picking at her fingernails, one her many nervous habits. What was it Martha wanted to talk to her about that she couldn’t talk about in front of Clark? Her leg started to shake as she waited for Martha to speak.

“Lois dear are you alright?” she asked noticing Lois’ numerous nervous tics.

“I’m not sure.” She admitted.

“Nervous about the baby?” she remembered having those pre-mother jitters herself. You start to worry about everything and anything and doubt your ability to take care of your child.

Lois nodded slowly. “What if I'm not a good mom?” she asked looking at Martha who always seemed to have the answers. Martha saw the insecurity hiding in Lois’ eyes and she knew that she was really worried about it. “I mean I’ve never really ever had a mom, I'm not sure I’d know what to do.”

“I’m always here for you if you need me, you know that right?”

She placed a consoling hand on Lois’ leg. “You’ll be a great mom, you’ll pag-ibig your child and teach them how to be independent, caring, loving and to know right from wrong; to grow up and be just like their mom.”

“Thank you.” Lois smiled and then the smile quickly faded, remembering something that’s been troubling her ever since she found out about the baby.

“What is it?” Martha asked concerned.

“If I told you something, would you promise to keep it between us and not tell Clark?”

“Does this have anything to do with the conversation you were having on the front porch earlier today?”

“What?” Lois’ eyes became wide with shock, how did she know?

“I know it wasn’t someone asking for directions Lois. It was Oliver.”

“How did you…” Lois asked, completely dumbfounded.

“I saw him pull into the driveway. What’s going on Lois?”

“It’s not what you think Mrs. K. I pag-ibig your son so much and would never-“

“Lois, I didn’t think you would.” She sinabi nervously cutting her off.

“But if I tell you, you promise you wont tell Clark?” she repeated.

“Are you in some kind of trouble?” Martha asked cautiously.

“Do you promise?” Lois insisted before continuing.

“Yes, alright.”

“Oliver, he…” she paused, taking a deep breath.

“He what Lois?” Martha questioned uneasily.
Lois looked at the ground so Martha couldn’t see the tears that were streaming down her face. “He, he raped me.” Her voice was
cold and shaky.

“Oh Lois! When? Are you okay?” she asked, astonished and shell-shocked.

“About three weeks ago.” Lois trembled and Martha tightly held her hand for comfort.

“Honey come here!” she pulled Lois into her arms. “I'm so sorry! I can’t believe he would so such a thing!”

“Me neither. I had to tell someone, I couldn’t keep this to myself any longer.”

“Shh its okay, it’s all going to be okay. But why did you choose to tell me and not Clark?”

Lois burst into a hysterical sobbing fit. Clark heard her crying from the kusina and began to get worried. He could handle Lois and his mom having a private conversation but when it involved a breakdown it was a different story. He turned on his super hearing to listen in.

“Because…” she sobbed. She put her head on Martha’s lap and let herself cry. She let herself cry out all the tears she kept bottled up inside from that night, the pain, fear, anger, sadness, all of it. “Because I’m not sure the baby’s Clark’s.”

Lois cried her eyes out while Martha rocked her comfortingly and both the women failed to notice a furious Clark standing at the door.
