“Hey.” You whisper.
“Hey, I’m not dead yet there’s no need to be quiet.” He jokes from his hospital bed.
“But…”
“The only butt I want remember is yours.” He grins.
You can’t help but smile. He was his usual self.
“You ok?”
“Well, yeah I guess. The only problem is they won’t let me have a fuckin serbesa once in awhile.”
You shake your head and laugh.
“Because it’s a hospital, Dip-Wad.”
“Who you calling Dip-Wad, Dip-Wad? I think serbesa is the best medicine,” he grins as he leans back further into his pillow. He looks you in the eye. “Hey, I know I’m gonna go soon. I don’t want you to see. That would break my heart.” He says quietly. “So give me a kiss, and why don’t you head on out?”
You shake your head, eyes watering. “No.” You whisper.
“Yes.” He says. “Come on, give me a halik and go.” He squeezes your hand.
The tears pouring, you lean over and give him one last long kiss.
“Hey,” he whispers softly, wiping away the tears with his thumb. “I’m going to be fine. You’re going to fine. I pag-ibig you. You were the best thing that ever happened to me.”
You let go of his hand.
“Love you.” You whisper.
And you walk out the door.
And never look back.
