“What if she says no?” I ask, pacing back and forth on the floor.
“She’s not gonna say no.” Soda reassures me.
“But what if she does? Some cute, Prince Charming type of guy comes and sweeps her off her feet? Then what do I do?” I say, nervous.
“That’s not going to happen. There are no Prince Charmings in Tulsa. Besides maybe you and Soda.” Darry smiles, offering help.
“One could ilipat here.” I argue.
“Your over analyzing things. Just ask Y/N to prom and be done with it.” Soda says.
“It’s not that easy.” I shake my head.
“Yes it is. Seven words, little buddy. Will. You. Go. To. Prom. With. Me.” Darry says.
“Seven is a big number.” I point out.
“With brains like yours?” Darry snorts.
“It’s just that I pag-ibig her so much, I don’t want one stupid dance to fuck things up.” I breathe.
“Watch your mouth.” Darry snaps. But then that face fades, and he goes back to trying to help. “Ponyboy, I’ve seen the way Y/N looks at you. She’s going to say yes.”
I was over the moon. “She looks at me in a way?”
“Yeah, dumby.”
Soda rolls his eyes.
I was stunned. “So she’s going to have to say yes!” I said, grinning like an idiot.
“That’s what we’ve been trying to tell you, little buddy.”
