The sort of girl that guys are likely to fall in pag-ibig with?

The thing I've noticed when it comes to romance is that, generally being aimed at the female audience, they are good at coming up with men that women the world over will fall for - often the brooding guy in the corner with the dark past who rejects everyone but the main character, who is the only one to see beneath his grim exterior to the beauty beneath blahdy blah. The female characters are often madami of the self-insert Mary Sue type (not always, but often).
Now, I know that when it comes to films, all people seem to think it takes to make a female character appealing to the male demographic is a nice body, but when it comes to novels I'm certain there must be a sort of female character that guys could fall in pag-ibig with in a similar sort of way, because of their characteristics and not their... other attributes.
So my tanong is: What sort of character do you think could pull off such a feat? This is for guys and girls both, sa pamamagitan ng the way - I'm sure you girls are aware of the sort of things men are attracted to besides looks.
