Rape in a story?

I think it has to be handled very, very carefully, and that the may-akda should educate him-/herself on the subject beforehand. Talk to a rape counselor, etc. I don't think the subject should be avoided entirely; after all, pagbaba about a survivor can be theraputic to another survivor. But I really hate it when an may-akda uses rape as a plot device without thinking of the implications.

Well I guess so I mean I wrote a short story and a poem about rape, and the poem got published and my short story got first place even though I didn't even research it I simply had a nightmare about me being raped sa pamamagitan ng a gym teacher and used that, it was a horrible horrible nightmare. :'(

I don't really care how it is written, if the writer is a good writer~ it adds dramatic tension... whether a flashback/background or twist.

I am not a little kid. I am well over 21 and even when I was, I wrote about that element all the time. I like my Pagsulat realistic and that is a very grisley, overly common fact of life and occurance.

If someone is a poor writer I would not read their Pagsulat anyway. I had to read Catcher In The Rye, in school, and that is famous and loved and I HATED it. I actually despised the Pagsulat style and the overly used GD. Sex & lust can be an element, depending on the author, that can be without feeling and dry or as depraved and perverted as the author, lol, (so sometimes I could do without it altogether if it is not written well). I don't require "delicate" sensibilities & things to be watered down - I have seen enough horrors of life and if the may-akda wishes to convey something to me, I respect their way of story-telling even if what I do not care for is sensationalism on a device for pure grandisose effect."Rape" IS an element that can be used to make a connection from the character to the reader and add some twists and depth.

THERE ARE NO TABOOs IN Pagsulat a STORY really, only bad writing. Everyone has different tastes though. If rape was a subject that needed to be tippie-toed or done "correct" -then why so many books with that in them (romance, pulp, or any trash novels aside). Do you think a rapist cares about "correct"? Half the authors out there or madami ("Paid" professional authors) may not even care about morals or emotional consideration. If YOU do, then you bring a great gift to the table, I think that would "add" to your story that might have that rough element in it.
