What inspires me to write depends on what I'm doing at the time, or what I see, or what happened recently, or the mood I am in. For example, if I am in a bad mood, I'll write something with an angry tone. If I'm feeling sad, I'll write something sad. If I'm listening to music, I might write something based on the particular song. I once wrote a poem called "Weeds Are Flowers, Too" after seeing a pasko ornament that had the words, "Weeds are flowers, too, if ibingiay a chance." I sometimes write anti-war poems when I'm in an anti-war mood. I call it my "inner John Lennon." I usually write them while listening to him.
