Mercy’s eyes felt heavy. Her whole body was numb and she was pretty sure her hands were shaking even though she couldn’t see them. The room was cold, to cold for her or her powers to handle. She shivered, closing her eyes even tighter. “Don’t close your eyes, you’ll miss the show!” A voice came from the corner of the room. Wearily, she lifted her head up and opened her eyes to see a tall female with raven-black hair and dark purple eyes smirking and walking toward her. “Long time, no see, Maura.” She sinabi weakly. “Bella, how have you been?” She smirked. “Don’t... Don’t call me that!” She snapped back. A door slammed and Brennan walked in with a tray covered in several vials and other little things. “Glad to see you’re awake.” He sinabi eerily. He took a small vial off the tray and unscrewed it. Brennan then walked behind Mercy, where her hands were tied behind her back since she was tied to a chair. Slowly he poured the liquid from the vial into her hands. Mercy winced in pain. “Just to make sure that you can’t escape.” He whispered in her ear. “You… How did you survive?” She asked. “Well, that araw that you so rudely interrupted us in the lab-“ Maura started but Mercy cut her off, “You were killing our friends! Don’t say that you-“Maura quickly slapped her across the face, “Don’t interrupt. Now, as I was saying, we had just completed something called energy transfer. Using your mga kaibigan as guinea pigs, we were able to now just suck the life out of them through contact!” There was an uneasy hint of pleasure in her voice. Maura ran her finger down Mercy’s cheek. Mercy screamed in pain. Maura laughed, “Funny, that was the same reaction we got when we drained you friend, Silas!” Mercy gasped, “You- You didn’t!” Brennan smirked, “We did.”

One sa pamamagitan ng one, the team woke up in the infirmary with Batman and several other bayani looking down at them. Robin groaned, “What happened?” “Where is Mercy?” Kaldur asked. “And why does my head hurt so much?” Artemis questioned. “The league found you all like this… Would you care to tell us why Mercy is missing?” Batman asked. “All I remember was this guy-“ Kid Flash was cut off when the zeta-tube announced 2 new arrivals. “Actually, his name is Brennan, him and another woman named Maura are the ones you want.” A girl around the age of 15 or 16 with dark auburn hair and brown eyes, and a boy around the age of 14 or 15 with white hair and purple eyes were standing in the doorway. “Sorry about the surprise entrance, but my name is Caleb, and this is Hailey.” The guy said.
