Hugh leaned over to Lisa and said, “Do you remember the plan about later tonight?”
She nodded a “yes” with a slightly devious look.
“Don’t forget, ok?” He was fairly positive she wouldn’t, but he just had to make sure.
She didn’t answer with words, or a nod, but the glance she sent his way nearly threw him back on in his chair. He KNEW there was no way she was forgetting.
They came back from the commercial with a take off of “Paranormal Activity” featuring Cloris Leachman. They watched together in silence, but Lisa had a few mga paru-paro in her stomach. She didn’t want to appear to be overly proud of him when he got up to accept his award. Of course, that was hard to pull off since she was indeed proud of him. It was difficult at times for her to play just the “supportive”, platonic friend role. She worried that her face gave her away too often. It was great that the fans thought as much of him as she did to give him this award. Well, maybe not quite as much, but a lot.
Rascal Flats was on the side stage now to present a music award. She didn’t hear because she was distracted sa pamamagitan ng Hugh turning to stare at her until she looked.
“What?” she whispered with a little fake annoyance to her voice.
Instead of answering he held her gaze for a minuto and then just looked back up to the stage. When he did that, she wasn’t sure if it was because he was looking at her or trying to read her thoughts. Maybe a little of both but she was glad that mind pagbaba wasn’t among his skills. She would be blushing for sure then.
Mariah Carey stood up to accept her award and something seemed a little off. She was barely able to walk and her husband was helping her. She was taking baby steps from the way it looked.
“What is she doing exactly?” Hugh asked Lisa as if she could see better from her position than his.
“Umm, I am not sure it looks like she is having a problem with her dress.”
“Do you think she is drunk?”
Lisa giggled a little,” I hope not. I hope people don’t think I’m drunk if I can’t get up the steps easily either. Wasn’t she drunk when she accepted an award the other day?”
“You look a lot better than her. Did I mention you look beautiful tonight?”
“Awww, that’s sweet of you to say.” She didn’t want let it ipakita how much she wanted to melt into her upuan right now, but she also hoped he never stopped complimenting her.
Steve Carell was accepting his award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. He sinabi something about repeating “that’s what she said” after everything he said, but Hugh had a camera in his face so he didn’t dare say anything. Good call too because his face was up on the screen now larger than life.
He smiled when it was on him, but he hated it.
As soon as the camera man left, he turned back to Lisa.
“I hate it when they do close ups like that.”
“Well, I like it; I get to look at you 10 times bigger.”
“Oh right, that must be something.” And he rolled his eyes. She was always his biggest tagahanga and he hoped she always would be.
Allison Hannigan was walking on stage for her win as best female lead in a comedy series.
Lisa wondered how long they would have left until they announced Hugh’s name, but she also hoped it wasn’t too soon. She was enjoying the conversation back and forth, even if it wasn’t about anything too deep. It kept the ipakita interesting. She really loved just sitting sa pamamagitan ng him, talking. They were so busy filming most days to get to just hang out. Now with Hugh getting ready to direct an episode, it would be even madami hectic and the times together would be brief.
Hugh broke her thoughts, “Have you ever seen her show?”
“No, but I hear she did a strip tease scene too.”
“I am fairly sure it wasn’t nearly as great as your performance.”
Lisa just smiled. That scene would never have been worth it had it not been for him being there with her. It made it that much better to do.
Jeff Probst was on stage promoting the new “Survivor”.
“What araw do you start directing scenes again?” She knew the answer but the thought of directing stirred him with a lot of emotions and she loved watching them tumawid his face.
“Next Thursday I start filming, but I am doing some prep work starting tomorrow.” His eyes gleamed like a child with a new toy.
“So, ummm, does that mean I will need to do whatever you tell me when you are the director?” she shot him a glance that balanced sarcasm and naughtiness.
Without skipping a beat he said, “Of course that is what it means, you silly actress you”.
Lisa started to laugh and got a look from the person susunod to her. She was fairly sure it was a production assistant. She put her hand to her mouth immediately to stifle the giggle.
When the commercial came, there was madami activity again. The production assistant that had been sitting susunod to them moved again and Carrie Underwood moved over so another lady could sit sa pamamagitan ng her. Lisa guessed it was a relative or close friend.
Back from the commercial they were announcing the category for “Best Comedy Series”. “The Big Bang Theory” won and everyone was clapping as the cast got up to accept their award, but two people were still engaged in conversation.
“Did I mention that you smell great tonight?” Hugh was leaning over again whispering. Very low this time so he couldn’t be heard.
“No, you didn’t but I didn’t wear anything different tonight than usual.” Lisa knew this was his paborito perfume.
“Maybe it’s just you then. You always smell good. What is this ipakita about?”
“Never seen it but the audience seems to really like it.”
Mary J. Blige came out onstage to sing her new single, “I am”. Lisa started tapping her foot to the beat. Hugh, always the musician kept time with his hand taping on his leg. Lisa glanced down and smiled at him keeping the beat. She was really enjoying this song.
“I like this song.” She leaned over to whisper.
“Ain't nobody gonna treat you better

Lisa was thinking to herself how true this song could be. Nawawala in her thoughts she almost didn’t notice when Hugh said, “You have your cell phone, right?”
She nodded yes and before she could say it, he patted his chest to indicate his was in his inner dyaket pocket.
Mary J. Blige finished and the award for paborito country music artist was being announced.
They both say upright and watched the presenter. Carrie Underwood was sitting susunod to them, so they should look like they are paying attention. Carrie was announced the winner and she rose to hug her companion. Hugh and Lisa clapped graciously. While she was giving her acceptance speech they gave each other knowing looks. It was their turn susunod and they knew it.
Before they knew it, Paula Patton was announcing…
“The People’s Choice for paborito drama actor is…Hugh Laurie”.
