CHAPTER 4: PHASE 2 COMPLETED
It's past ten. Tonight it's Lilly's turn for recon duty. Although Skipper insisted she doesnt really need to do the job, she of course wanted to ipakita him girls can do boy things. As expected.
Everyone is asleep except me. I sneaked into my lab, left the door ajar on purpose, I only need to stand near the door.
"My sorrowful apologies Lilly, but I have to do this." I took a ballon blew on it then pricked it with a needle. BOOM! That was loud enough to disturb Skipper's sleep. And if that was not enough I had a back-up. This will catch his attention for sure.
I played the edited tape recording.
"Kowalski? Kowalski!"
"Lilly what are you doing here? Arent you suppose on recon duty?"
"Shh! Kowalski, Skipper might hear you."
"Why is that a problem?"
"Because..."
Silence.
"Ah! Why did you halik me?"
"Kowalski I pag-ibig you."
"I thought we settled this, we can only be friends!"
"But..."
"You belong with him not with me. Leave Lilly, please leave, just leave me alone."
The recording automatically stopped and I quickly ditched the recorder. I barely had done it when Skipper barged in the laboratory, his face full of mad anger.
"Where is she? Where is that woman!?" He searched my lab in a blind fury knocking to the floor some of my inventions.
"Skipper! Please stop! My inventions!"
Finding nothing Skipper headed to me, twisted my left flipper and pushed me against the wall.
"Where is Lilly?!" Skipper yelled, his grip like iron.
"You heard..."I faked my shocked voice.
"I heard everything I need to hear! WHERE IS SHE?"
"Skipper, maybe you dreamed it all up!"
"Don't lie to me Kowalski. I know what I heard!"
"Skipper what's going on?" Private had walked in with Rico beside him.
Skipper let go of me and marched past Rico and Private. He went out of the HQ. The three of us were quick to follow him, listening as he repeatedly sinabi "Where is she?!"
She was of course where she should be on her post atop the clock tower. He sptted her there and went to her. No one tried to stop Skipper nor calm him down bit. No one have seen him angry like this since...
When we're on tuktok of th clock, the fight Ive waited for began.
"Lilly!"
"Why Skipper what happened? Is anything wrong?"
"Don't play innocent with me Lilly! I know what you just did!"
"What are you talking about?"
"You just tried to betray me! You were on Kowalski's laboratory havent you?!"
Lilly looked at me questionably.
"I told him he might have dreamed it all up!"
"I wasnt born yesterday Kowalski!" Do you think I'll fall for that! Stop trying to cover her dirty secret Kowalski!"
"Maybe you did dream it all up. Just another of your wild imaginations." Lilly reasoned.
"I was fully awake that time! Your a traitor Lilly!"
"Will you stop accusing me!? You're getting on my nerves!"
"Oh really am I? Just like you're getting tired of me and you wanted to play another.."
"Stop it!" Lilly yelled back. "Will you stop for a segundo and listen!"
"So now you're the one who's angry. When Im the one you just betrayed."
Lilly didnt answer. She couldnt believe what she is seeing. She stood for a while, a flipper on her hip.
"Let's talk when you're calm." Lilly sinabi dismissively and waddled away.
"And where do you think you're going?"
"Away from you!" Lilly waddled away to the direction of the central park. We watched her disappear in silence. When she was gone, Skipper turned and looked at me, his expression unreadable. His face was mixed with anger, sorrow, suspicion, it was so much I had to look away. He led our slow and silent way back to HQ.
Phase 2 has been completed. I dont know if I felt happy or not. I just felt numb.
