Skipper vs Smith
In a sudden turn of events, Skipper has been Court Marshaled! Will he and his mga kaibigan be able to defend his pamagat in their most inexperienced area – the Court Room? Not without a little help! Part Two to Battle of the Boroughs.
Skipper looked to his family. Kowalski, Private, Rico. He folded the letter and put it away. He couldn’t bring himself to tell them, not just yet. He put on a smile, hoping they would get it and the tension in the air would dissipate.
“What’s the letter say, skippah?” Private asked cheerfully “Uh, nothing. It’s nothing Private. Go on, keep up the muscle! And two, and three, and four …”
“Um, Skipper, we weren’t doing those. We were working on our backslashes.” sinabi Manfretti
“Oh. Right. Carry on.” Rico looked at him weirdly, and then shrugged it off to continue.
The araw went sa pamamagitan ng uneventful. Night fell, and they jumped into their bunks. Skipper could hear them all breathing heavily and contently. He twirled the paper about in his hands. What was he going to do? He didn’t have much experience with the Court, and from what he could make of it, the court was a dangerous place. Full of lies, truths, and half truths from what his old pals in the system told him about it.
He sighed. Why did every ilipat he make end up with such disastrous consequences? He needed to go for a walk. He jumped out of his bunk and went outside the habitat. Everybody in the zoo was asleep. A good, peaceful night. The moon was waning, and there were even a few stars out! He sighed in annoyance when the ‘stars’ buzzed and flew away.
Ever since their escapade with Joey’s team, they had remained underground, but their base was moved to just outside the Zoo walls. He saw a ibong dagat figure walking around outside the zoo. Realizing he needed help, he went over to see Joey Wheeler.
“Hey Joey,” he sinabi “I need some help.”
“What is it?”
“I’ve been ibingiay a Court Summons.” he flippered him the letter. Wheeler read it quickly, hastily handing it back to Skipper.
“Well, you can’t ignore it. We’d go with you, but, well, you understand…” he trailed off
“Yeah. I understand. I don’t know anything about the court system, Joey. What am I going to do?”
“well, you can try and find somebody who does. You can hire a lawyer. Or you can go to jail for the rest of your feathered life. Personally, I’d go with option two.”
“But where am I going to find a lawyer on such short notice?”
“I’m sure you’ll find one. You always manage to get what you need in time.” Joey reassured. Skipper sighed.
“Yeah, I suppose you’re right. Well, thanks for the help.”
“No problem. It was my duty.” Joey smiled, and gave a quick salute. Skipper returned the salute, heading back to his home.
He sat in his bunk for a long time, pondering on who was the most qualified as a lawman.
Where, oh where was he going to find someone? Who?
Who?
Who?
… Who!
