What does it mean if I guy tells you that you're the prettiest girl he ever met?

My friend keeps denying that this guy who is her best friend might like her (like, like her like her). Recently she told me that he told her she was the prettiest girl he ever met and she still thinks it doesn't mean he likes her like that.

What do you think?
