Do you think Barbie is a negative role model for young girls?

Nor is it supposed to be proportional because its a doll.

The story behind Barbie isn't really that bad. People demonized Barbie, not the other way around.

Not really. My sister played with Barbies for forever, and she's fine.

Appearance wise I guess. Because she is way too skinny and her body isn't exactly a right proportion so if a girl wanted to look like Barbie,she would mostly likely almost die because of it. IF she wants to look like Barbie. Otherwise I don't think so.

yes, it sets an image in their mind about how youre supposed to look in order to be considered beautiful, even though beauty comes from within as well as outside.

I played with Barbie mga manika when I was younger and I didn't start to become self-conscious about my body until I went into 7th Grade, around the time I stopped playing with them. So I think that my self-esteem issues I had during junior high were madami because I was jealous of the way my peers looked, not really of the way Barbie looked. Honestly, I never aspired to have Barbie's body, I just liked to dress the mga manika up and make up stories with them. And like I've heard before from other people, I've never heard of boys over-exercising, hating themselves, or using anabolic steroids because they wanted to look like G. I. Joe.

Okay, the doll is NOT a role model. It's a malaking piraso of plastic!!! What type of role could you model from an inanimate piece if plastic? The movies, however, have great lessons that everyone could learn from.

It's just a doll and some people are overreacting over Barbie and her physique. She has been around for several years,so why does it matter now? I saw the plus-size barbie and that looked pathetic just because someone is big it doesn't mean they have three chins. Nobody would want to buy it to be honest

I think she's a relatively good role model, considering other 'role models' that young children are exposed to. Whilst her body does defy the laws of biology and physics, she is portrayed as a successful, creative young woman with a load of achievements (pilot's licence/astronaut/president of the USA) in roles that are typically male-dominated, which I think inspires girls to fight gender stereotypes.

No. Barbie is a toy that is fun for young girls to play with. People demonized Barbie, but it's honestly just because they are, in fact, however sad this sounds, jealous of a doll.
