Haha yes. You're right. I know it doesn't directly become ATP like that, but glucose is essential to the process, since the energy from glucose is refined into the body's prime energy souce or unit. I always like pagbaba about kreb's cycle, the electron transport chain and electrolysis. Metabolism is interesting huh. Learning about catalysts, enzymes, active sites and other stuff about metabolism was also very interesting.

Edited to add some pictures from my uni notes, ipinapakita how complicated it is. Probably stained with my tears from when I was trying to learn it. That's only half of it, lol- it doesn't ipakita the oxidation step in between glycolysis and the Krebs Cycle that gets acetyl-CoA from pyruvate, or the ETC at the end. Which is a pity, because the ETC is frickin amazing. Probably my favourite bit of the whole thing- fun to read about indeed :) Enzymes are also great!

Fellow bio student :') You're right, glucose is cray, there's all the anaerobic products too. At that's not even mentioning all the anabolic reactions, liking making into glycogen for storage, or into fats via fatty acid synthesis. Metabolic pathways are truly awesome <3
