*rabid fangirl.

I'm not going to vote on this one because I don't want to be too biased and start up another argument.

They all bother me except for the Mary Sue option tbh. I hate two dimensional characters, they're boring and can be hella sexist

She stole my mental boyfriend and she gets in the way of my ship too.

The Sue one doesn't bug me at all; I think hating a character for being a Mary Sue is perfectly reasonable. The Sues are just so annoying, they get all of the attention, they're so nauseatingly perfect...

All of them are absolutely horrible reasons to hate a character.

Even being a Mary-Sue is illogical, I mean seriously. I am not sure why you would hate a character just for being perfect? That almost sounds like envy to me. Or some sort of biased way of thinking.

All of them are terrible reasons.
Especially the "she gets in the way of yaoi". Hating someone because they get in the way of a ship is dumb enough on its own.
And although there are Mary-Sues who can be likeable, almost 93% of them are just 1-dimensional, perfect, cardboard characters. If anyone likes that, then that's fine but I don't typically like them.

@blind it's because they're unrealistic and boring not because of envy... Who wants to be that flat?

^ that's pretty much why I don't like them. It's also a matter of them being so perfect and flawless that they become uninteresting and less complex. More over the Sue's are the ones that get all the attention on the story like everything is about then to the point it takes away from other characters and maybe even the plot. Bloom from Winx is my prime example of this; we know she lines extra cheese pizza but we don't even know where the main villains come from. She's the lead singer in the spin off band when she's friends with a MUSIC fairy! and then there are the Sues like Bella Swan; hearing the same info over and over again about how pretty and smart she is--basically Meyer reminding us of how talented she is wastes page space. I just feel like most Sues take away from the story more than they help it.
For me it has nothing to do with envy; frankly I'm glad I have some flaws I wouldn't know my strong points without my weak points. Typing that actually made me realize that that's probably why I can't appreciate Sues; without flaws their strong points aren't highlighted. They're just an unrealistic blob of perfection. Makes them kind of humdrum.

@zan That's called poor writing. Not because of a character flaws or perfection. If someone keeps writing in such a way. It hurts the story but the character is just a byproduct of it. You shouldn't hate the character because of how they were written for that reason.

@ tamore it's just poor writing. There's no reason to hate a character because of that. It's just bad writing. But of course this is my viewpoint.

Lol they all are bad.

But I never get this one. I actually like it when a character I like gets with someone, it's interesting to see how the character acts in a relationship, wouldn't understand why some fans want to cut that opportunity out xP

But in shows like Winx where all the other characters are written just fine? Granted with Winx his writing fell so down hill I don't even really like it anymore. Or in cases like Harry Potter; Rowling is an excellent writer but I feel like Ginny pushes on the Mary-Sue border. In those cases it isn't really poor writing but a bad character?

I guess more of what I'm trying to say with this one is that most flaws and (good--not 'she stole my mental boyfriend) reasons to hate a character can be chalked up to poor writing and a poorly written character is totally a fair enough reason to hate that character. To me a Mary-Sue indicates poor (or a spot of poor) writing and for that I don't like Sue characters. If that made any sense.

@simple I can agree there with the annoying-fangirl thing. As you said, ups and downs all the characters have them. Like I said I don't hate her but I don't like her either. Movie Ginny was unbearable though, I think they reduced her to 'the love interest'.

@zanhar Mary-Sues are extremely subjective. But to me mary sues are as subjective and over used like the term *overrated*. 9.5/10 characters will have flaws and shouldn't be called mary-sues YET people call them that term. A perfect character does not equal a bad character. You can say it's not the character for you or you have different tastes for characters but 9.9/10 generally you can't say a character was inherently bad. Yukiteru in Mirai Nikki. Annoyed the shit out of me. But I tend to sometimes like that trope but other times hate it with a passion. Yes some people love them. You shouldn't hate a character just because they are perceived as near flawless. Are you telling me that's a good reason to hate someone in real life? if it's not a good reason to hate someone in real life why would you do it just for fictional works.

Even though so called mary-sues you named probably have flaws. if I watched winx club I bet you anything if I studied Blooms personality I"d find some weaknesses. Or anyone else that you have claim were mary-sues. 9.9/10 characters will have flaws if not all of them and if the author wrote them to be as that way dislike how the author portrayed the character. Also a so called mary-sue character doesn't necessarily mean poor writing. Sometimes it does but perfection doesn't equal poor writing it greatly depends on the media. Don't use mary sues as a reason to hate a character. If you dislike a character for xyz so be it but mary sue isn't a good reason since it's subjective. Like simple said with Ginny she wasn't a bad character. Mary-sue doesn't equal a bad character. It just equals a character that isn't for you it seems.

And dont say people who excel at almost everything doesn't exist in real life. It's possible. It just doesn't happen all the time.

@Zan I believe the six movie came out around the time Twilght was big so that could be the reason she was like that.

All of these are pretty dumb reasons. But I once had a friend who refused to like any female characters for some reason. If a character was female, she automatically disliked them regardless of their personality or depth. She grew out of it, but damn, it was annoying.
