Because today is almost hard to find a YA book with boys as protagonists (80% is female, female, female) and usually in stories in female doesn't have much focus in adventure (unhappily 60% focus is in love triangles).

I don’t read much YA anymore but I tend not to have a huge preference. Stories with male protags often feel fresher because there do seem to be fewer of them out there, but women are often more interesting to me, so, depends on the story I suppose.
