…… SKULLGIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII…

...IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRLS… Sorry about that, I just get excited when we talk about this game. So uh, yeah. Skullgirls is a pretty cool game. Lab Zero started out with this little indie pamagat backed on Indiegogo with the help of a dozen internet individuals like the Super Best mga kaibigan Play, and Zone, the porn artist… really.

But then we get to the new consoles of PS4 and Xbox One. And with it comes a new version of Skullgirls. I talked about the original Skullgirls game, but now it is time to talk about Skullgirls: 2nd Encore. The new additions are a few new mods, the addition of all the DLC characters like Squigly, Big Band, Eliza, Beowulf, Fukua and Robo Fortune, and the addition of voice actors, one of which you may recognize. Squigly has a little worm companion named Leviathan and is voiced sa pamamagitan ng Liam O’Brien, the voice of Akihiko from Persona 3 and pretty much a 3rd of the population in Fallout: New Vegas. But Leviathan is just Liam O’Brien doing his Grimoire Weiss voice from NieR. Not that I’m complaining. But aside from that, it’s just the same game again with a bit of a heftier price tag. Of course, it’s worth the money for all that added DLC and nice little touches. The story of Skullgirls centers around the Skull Heart, a McGuffin that grants wishes, but at a price. Guarding the Skull puso is the Skullgirl, Marie, whose only intention is to kill a crime family for what they’ve done. You pick a variety of rather attractive ladies and a slime monster and two guys and from there, play through their story and pick which girl will be your waifu. Mine is Robo Fortune cause she can’t hate me after two seconds.
Every segundo of this game is kendi to the eyes, and I don’t mean that cause of the girls…. I don’t entirely mean that because of the girls. The charm for this game comes from the animations. Every single character was painstakingly drawn with over 500 frames of animation each. All sa pamamagitan ng one man who had this idea locked into his head since high school. Knowing that this guy can draw charming character art in high school and I can barely draw human proportions at the age of 20 is both impressive for him and a little disappointing to me. The combat in this game is a ton of fun as well. It adds its own blend of fun combos and stylish moves while taking inspiration from the arcade fighting games of the past like kalye Fighter III and Darkstalkers. Whenever I watch a tournament, first, I fear for my own skills in fighting games, and second, seeing someone perform an insane combo and then seeing someone else block that similar combo with total ease is a sight to behold. And if you can get some mga kaibigan together, this game is a real spectacle and just an pangkalahatang fun time. Of course, that’s only if you can play locally. I know the concept of sopa co op makes big budget publishers shrivel with disgust, but sometimes, games lag. And for example, Skullgirls. I pag-ibig Skullgirls, but man, playing online is just real laggy. And from what I experienced with a friend, it also has delay at some points. Maybe it was his device, maybe it was the game, I don’t know. But what I do know is that the lag is real.
Despite that, should you buy Skullgirls- YES! It isn’t gonna be the biggest fighting game in the world, hell, Evo already forgot it ever existed, but it is a game that I pag-ibig so much. Tekken is my paborito fighting game franchise, but Skullgirls has so much charm around it that I can definitely see it as one of my paborito fighting games out there. If you want one of the most unique fighting games experiences of the last decade, you should try out Skullgirls. And also look pasulong to the new game Lab Zero has in store. That looks like a ton of fun.
