It's finally here! All the submissions to this month's mga tula contest is included within this soapbox, for your convenience. For the sake of the judges, I am allowing two weeks from today for them to peruse the works herein and then create a pick with their tuktok five choices. The judges may confer amongst themselves if they wish. Input from the Fanpop community should also be considered. Comments on particular poems are welcome. The only thing that is prohibited is pointing out (subtly or obviously) which poem is yours. As a poet, that may disqualify you from the competition, for betraying the...

I'm the one
who will dare
to look without
one blind eye.

I dare.
Blindness lives here not!

I'm the one
who will speak
the truth,
releasing the memories
that eat my brain.

I dare.
Lies live here not!

I'm the one
who will
remember you,
the way you really are.

I dare.
Oblivion lives here not!

I'm the one
who will live
through the words,
even when my life
forget me.

I dare.
Emptiness lives here not!

I'm the one
who will encourage you,
even when your life
is dying slowly within
your mind.

I dare.
Surrender lives here not!

What kind of sick, twisted individual created the idea of dodgeball? Apparently it seemed like such a great idea to put child against child, and have them whip balls at each other. And it doesn't matter that gym teachers say "no hitting people in the face," because despite that, that's exactly what they're aiming for.

I was just happy I was out most of the game. I was able to sit out on the sidelines, with all the kids who were furious they were out. and avoid a panic attack.

I saw Jezreel again.

She was ducking behind a kid, who seemed to not mind her using him as a body guard. I almost laughed...

Chapter Fifteen

Later that araw and after hapunan and playing games with Mama and Sean, Mac knew that after Sean leaves their tahanan to go back to his own house and once Jamie cleans them up, put them in their pajamas, and read them a story or two, then she can ask her mother about that odd thing she saw that araw between her mom and the man who hangs out with them any chance he got.

It was coming closer and closer. After Sean had left, four of the Thomas family is heading into their ‘getting ready for bed’ routine which means taking a bath, taking sure that the kids had brushed their teeth, used...

Endless Pain: Chapter Two

Selena and her mother had sat on the kama while Selena told the whole story.

“And just last night I dreamed that he had… that he had…”

“He had been what?” her mom asked with utter most curiosity; for she knew her daughter, and anything could happen.

“He had been killed!” Selena shouted. “And it felt so real! As if I saw it with my own eyes!” The tears slowly came again, but they passed....

Chapter Two:

Jean:

Jean got on the bus a few hours later, dressed in her brown Tim Hortons uniform, earphones in her ears as she fiddled with her iPod. Benny spotted her as soon as she got on. Without a segundo thought, he stood up and sat in the empty upuan susunod to her.

Jean was young, sixteen, maybe seventeen, and tall. Her dark hair was pulled up neatly behind her head. She wore very little make up and looked exhausted, as if she’d just woken up and remembered she had to go work.

Jean looked over at Benny and gave him a half-hearted smile, before turning back to her music.

“Hello,” sinabi Benny,...

The inky sky pours in gradually,

Silver stars mingle casually,

apoy has left a stain on this land,

Trace the blackened ground with one hand,

Been a while, but I remember,

sa pamamagitan ng waning light, a glowing ember

Fades out in silence, into dust,

Until the breeze will leave it crushed.

My frame, a statue, barely breathing,

As the wisps of smoke are leaving,

Now, my muscles start to thaw,

And heat from ashes leaves them raw,

I catch myself before my landing,

For as long as I've been standing,

I've stared out at a ruined nation,

Now I walk with trepidation.

The Man With No Eyes Collection (4): Lately

I thought I Nawawala you before you even left me.

That’s the message that your cloudy gaze sent me,

And now it’s become a glistening bubble of a memory.

Is it possible you regret me?

Is it possible that I’m empty?

Why else would I awake to find no one here except me?

Won’t anyone accept me?

My true face, not the stunning mask of the beautiful, bereft me?

Haunted riches; is it worth being wealthy?

The creeping outside my doors; they’re gonna get me.

And once they finish chopping me up, they’re gonna set me,

Ablaze, and then they’ll just forget me.

A madami grim tone and disorganized format were intentional for this one. Funny enough, the pamagat was the hardest part here. Trying to sum up this poem in just a word was difficult, but I think I found a good fit.

Chapter 1

As I slowly walk toward the road I can't help but to think "What have I gotten myself into?" I know I shouldn't have done what I did. Is this where I was suppose to end up? Is this destiny. If it is... I don't believe. I just wish I could take it all back. I'm sorry. I'm sorry is all I could say. I shouldve never listened to her. My mother. Don't let this be the end. I won't give up. Please. Then I hear a soft scream but as I approach closer It grows louder. I start to shake inside but I manage to keep walking. I'm sorry. I shouldve let him go. It was stupid. I shouldve let that night...

An hayop ng oter strode silently down the dim hall.
His pelt was black as night and his eyes were as blue as the sky on a cloudless day.
He wore a black tunic, which came down a little past his knees.
From the way he walked to the sly glint in his eyes, it was clear that he was crafty, daring and fierce.
He was young, yes, but he was the most advanced in his classes.
He had won duels with experienced warriors, beat the best archers and had even stolen pagkain from behind the cook’s back.
The Wave Warriors would be lucky to have him in their army, if he stood up to their expectations.
Would he?
He would...

Worthless. Useless. Despicable. Wretched.

These are the words my mother used to describe me. Each word was like a dagger through me. But I was thankful. She might've come up with that soon enough.

"There's nothing like a mother's love," they say. I wouldn't know. If it included fear, pain, hate, and resentment, then yes. There's nothing like it. Not in the the entire world. But I think they meant it was wonderful. Not terrible.

But it was over now. She was gone forever.

I was allowed to her funeral,...

Her scream was high pitched. The kind where you get a shiver down your back. The kind when someone scrapes their nails on a chalk board. The kind where the person screaming is in utter pain. But gladly it wasn't all the way like that.

You would think the water elementals would be madami careful around the giant sea snake. It's one of the many creatures that live in our vally's lake. Some of the water elementals are even isda or sea snake shape shifters. Thats why I laughed when one of them screamed at the giant serpent.

Trixi yelled at me for my rude behavior and we ran towards the snake. From...

I have always been amazed sa pamamagitan ng animated pelikula and comicbooks just because they both a great way to tell stories and the art usually looks amazing.

What i want to do is to create something that speaks to kids or teens just like the Disney pelikula and comicbooks did to me as a kid and thats why i´m trying to write a book and i´m going to try and get that published.

I really admire people who succed with Pagsulat a book, drawing comics or anything like that and i really hope that i can be one of them some day.
